Slack Channel Architecture (May 2026 Restructure)

Summary

Slack channel cleanup pass started 2026-05-07. Fred is condensing to fewer, denser channels and leaning on Claude + Slack MCP for retrieval rather than channel proliferation. "EVERYTHING IS AVAILABLE VIA SEARCH" is the operating premise. Renamed two flagship channels and archived four redundant ones. New #ranks-and-stats data-feed channel coming.

Channel renames (2026-05-07)

Old name New name Purpose
#team-wide-announcements #direct-from-fred (C07EDP74R19) Home base for missives, announcements, leadership-visibility posts
#questions-and-feedback #ask-artemis (C07F2JV4V8Q) General team collab — questions = team feedback request

Archived channels (2026-05-07)

  • #team-office-hours-with-link (Zoom link now PIN'd in #direct-from-fred)
  • #done-for-you-marketing
  • #realtordotcom-opcity-marketvip
  • #negotiation-and-deal-rescue-center

New channels (incoming)

  • #ranks-and-stats — pure data feed. Auto-posts Tuesday 7am with agent rankings + curated stats (housing, inventory, competitor framing). Designed for Claude+MCP extraction:

"Hey I'm building my new listing presentation, can you scour Slack with an emphasis on the ranks-and-stats channel to give me the top 5 highlight stats I should feature to impress sellers?"

How to retrieve information

  1. Pinned posts first. Filter by pinned in any channel to see Fred's most important context.
  2. Search across all channels. Slack search covers everything visible to your account.
  3. Claude MCP integration. Use the in-house Claude app or connect your own Claude. Slack MCP queries Slack the same way you'd query a data warehouse.
  4. Combined sources. Claude can pull Slack + FUB + MARIS API + Olympus wiki in a single query.

Office hours (post-restructure)

  • Cadence: every other Tuesday starting 2026-05-13, 9:30 AM CDT, 90 min max.
  • Persistent Zoom: PIN'd in #direct-from-fred. Meeting ID 844 1887 2163, passcode 3434.
  • 2026-05-13 in-person: at the County (Country Club) — 10am, private room, 1-2 hours business + Fred-paid lunch/drinks + 2 hours simulator time.
  • Sub coverage: if Fred can't host, he finds a sub or releases the Zoom room for collaborative team use.

Why this matters

  • Information density over channel sprawl. Fewer channels means denser threads, better Claude retrieval, less "where does this go" friction for new posts.
  • Slack as agent-data-fabric. Every agent can run Claude over Slack to extract talking points, listing presentation stats, comp data, recent decisions — the channels are the substrate.
  • Pinned posts as durable anchor. Critical info (Zoom link, splits memo, current Zillow offer) is pinned, not buried.
